Join us for a party featuring:
-Free snacks and drinks!
-One hour of live readings of stories from SIDEKICKS! by local authors
-A raffle to win a copy of the book at 6pm
-One hour of Q&A with the book’s authors, editor, and publisher
-More free snacks and drinks!

PLEASE NOTE:
-All guests must arrive BEFORE 6:00. The library closes at 6:00 and we will not be permitted to allow anyone else to enter the building after that time. We can stay and hang out in the meeting room as long as we like after closing, but anyone who leaves will not be readmitted.
-The library does NOT allow us to sell copies of the book at the event. You will need to order a copy before the event if you would like to have it signed. Copies can be obtained here: http://sidekicks.alliterationink.com/ or by talking to Steven Saus, Sarah Hans, Matt Betts, Steve Lickman, Michael Haynes, KW Taylor, or any other SIDEKICKS! author.

-This event is open to the public, so the stories read aloud will be edited/censored a little for content. If you want the full versions, complete with f-bombs, you’ll have to buy the book!

As Alliteration Ink, I’m one of the publishers participating in the ENnies Publisher Karaoke Fundraiser.

You heard me. Karaoke.

If you’re not familiar with the ENnies, let me give you a quick rundown from the site:

The Gen Con EN World RPG Awards (the “ENnies”) are an annual fan-based celebration of excellence in tabletop roleplaying gaming. The ENnies give game designers, writers and artists the recognition they deserve. It is a peoples’ choice award, and the final winners are voted upon online by the gaming public.

By being fan-based, the ENnies fill a niche that the Origins Award doesn’t. The ENnies rely upon donations and sponsors, and this year they’re expanding it with Publisher Karaoke.

Many of the publishers (again, including me) have volunteered to sing a song at the ENnies to raise money.

Only the three publishers who raise the most money will sing.

There’s a lot of publishers offering to sing a lot of songs (mine is “The Hero of Canton” from Firefly). So here’s where you come in.

Story from DANGERS UNTOLD a finalist for a Shadows Award!:

Marty Young’s story “A Monstrous Touch”, which appeared in the anthology DANGERS UNTOLD, is a finalist for a Shadows Award. The Shadows are awarded to the stories and collections that best typify the horror genre, delivering a sense of ‘creeping dread’, leaving the reader with chills and a reluctance to turn out the light.

Congratulations to Marty for making the finalist ballot, and good luck with the award!

Review of SIDEKICKS! from Read Village:

The folks over at Read Village have posted a nice review of SIDEKICKS!, and has perhaps the most awesome summary of a book I’ve seen in a long time:

If Rod Serling collaborated with O. Henry and Lorne Michaels, the result probably would be something similar to Sidekicks edited by Sarah Hans (Alliteration Ink, 2013), an anthology of comic-book, horror, fantasy and sci-fi short stories.
